How do I stop my online information from getting fished

Just this morning, I had received a confirmation number regarding a bank application that I was supposedly doing. But the problem is, I didn’t start any application for any bank. Then this afternoon I received a hotel confirmation from [booking.com](https://booking.com) which I didn’t book. I already canceled the hotel reservation but what do I need to do so that this won’t happen again?

Go lock your credit, fast, before someone who’s stealing your identity manages to open a credit card in your name that you don’t notice until it’s too late.

Also, check and see if there’s any unknown charges on your cards or bank account. Sounds like someone already has your identity.

As for how to stop from getting phished- just keep following this sub and learn what to avoid. Don’t click on ANYTHING that you aren’t sure where it comes from, never give out a code or password or anything. If a company contacts you, hang up and call the company back directly to be sure. Yes, they can spoof the real company number on your caller ID.

  2. Did you cancel the hotel reservation by clicking a link in the message they sent you?
