I fell for a fake job/fake check scam and I gave out some personal information.

Hey guys, I know this gets posted a lot, I’m your average dumbass 20-year-old desperate for a job and fell for a job scam. They have all the information you’d give to a real job. Bank information, SSC, license proof of residency everything I’m so pissed at myself. I’ve already contacted the bank, they said they to contact them after the check is cashed, I’ve already reported them on several federal websites. I know after the check, I can just return the money and make a new bank account, but what do I do about everything else. I can’t change my social security or license until there’s proof of fraud I don’t have any credit to freeze, so I guess i just hope for the best, bide my time, stay alert change it when I can, and not let it eat me up.

Freeze your credit immediately. This stops them from taking up loans or opening new credit cards in your name. Then monitor your credit. Expect more scam texts and calls from random numbers. You don’t need to return the money when the cheque cashes. Unless you already sent them money back. The cheque will bounce and the bank will charge you a penalty for a bounced cheque .

Do _not_ “return the money”. Let the bank take it back. If you send money back to them, then when the check bounces, you will be out the amount of the check _plus_ what you sent them.

And even if you think you have no credit, you still need to contact all three credit bureaus and freeze your credit.
