Scams

I got scammed need advice/help.

I went online to buy some Birkenstock’s and I clicked on the first link that I saw because it seemed legit. I went ahead and continued to buy a pair of sandles thinking it was the legit store. After buying I take a good look at the link and seen that it said birkensteck.club. I tried to call the number they had for customer service but obviously it was a fake number. I don’t mind not getting the 100$ back but my only worry is that they have my card info and my address. Is there anything I can do so that they don’t take anymore money out or something? I’m just scared of them having that info about me and what they will do with it.

First thing, you can try to do a charge back if you paid by card, so it’s not at all impossible that you could get your money back.

The personal info though, if you paid by card you can request a new card with a different number and cancel the old one. But you can’t stop them from having your name/address obviously.

  4. If you’re that concerned reach out to the issuer of the card, dispute that charge, and request a new card.

  5. Hey it’s gonna be okay!! As mentioned before, immediately call your bank to cancel your debit card. In most cases, you might be able to get your money back if you tell them that you were scammed. Make sure to also file a report with the ftc to prevent others from also getting scammed!

I got scammed a few days ago by a fake tech support company and can understand your fear. I shared my personal info, had to call my bank, and now I have to take my laptop to get checked.

Hopefully we can both move forward from this! Keep us updated!

    Best wishes and stay safe~
