Is this a scam?

So I received an email request from a “Jane Doe” asking to be my friend on Venmo on Monday. Then immediately after that I received a Venmo for $15.00 and in the reason it says for a shirt.
I don’t know this person. Wasn’t selling anything. Checked my Venmo sure enough there is $15.00 in my account.
I have not been contacted since Monday. Do you think this was an honest mistake? Am I able to contact this person and ask wth is this for? I don’t want to withdraw the money because it’s not mine. I don’t know what to do. I know it’s stupid because it’s such a small amount. But I’m honestly unsure what to do. I feel this lady is going to be waiting on a shirt she’s never going to receive. And I feel bad.

Contact Venmo and tell them what happened. Do what they tell you to do in order to solve this.

It’s very weird. Definitely don’t touch the money, and don’t give it back if they ask for it. Let them sort it out with Venmo.

  3. I remember John Doe because of this lmao. But probably, you could report this transaction to Venmo. If this is stolen money, that would be kind of trouble, hence, why it is important to report to Venmo right away.

Don’t give the money back yourself! Contact Venmo. Tell them that money was fraudulently deposited in your account. Let them handle it.
