Is this an apple scam email?

I ordered some stuff on apple’s Irish website as a guest for someone. 20 minutes later I got an email titled ” **Action Required: Order** order number here”. I never ordered from apple before.

The email is coming from [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

I couldn’t find anything on the phone number – 1800924418 – giving in that email so it sounded some alarm bells in me. The email is also very vague. I google searched on this type of email just gives me conflicting info. Overall it looks like an auto generated email.

I visited the order status page and it doesn’t say anything about having issues. I will check again in the morning and see.

Hmmm, all the emails I have received from Apple are [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])com. This also seems fake.

You could also look up the number on the Apple website and call that to see what’s going on and if this is legit. Never call numbers in emails.

edit: any email that is order related also comes from …

  2. Does the order number you blacked out match the order number for the items you purchased? I have found posts from 5 years ago referencing the same 1800 number in Ireland coming from Apple and referencing the poster’s correct order number. If it is not a legitimate email, either you and others have the same malware (over the course of 5 years) or Apple has a leak in Ireland.

Update: There was another post on Apple’s forums about this in 2017. General consensus was it was a scam until someone confirmed he got the same message and they needed to verify something about using a UK credit card. They said the order was going to be cancelled. Suggest you call the number on Apple’s support site for Ireland.

  3. It’s fake.
When you order something from Apple they don’t ask you anything after order. As all delivery details have been placed in order.
