Possible “review team” scam?

A bit ago I bought a leather bag from a company called Polare and being impressed with the quality of it I left a relatively in depth review.

A few days ago I received an email from [email protected] explaining some of the things that I criticized about the bag (including showing some photos from their factory) and asking me if I wanted to join their “review team” to get new products for free in exchange for honest reviews.

They gave me links to two of their newer products and said if I bought one and sent them the order number then they would reimburse me for it.

I have to wonder if the company is just trying to get me to buy something and then never reimburse me.

Do they want you to buy it directly on their website or from Amazon or such?

If it’s Amazon, it’s because they don’t want Amazon to know you’re getting it for free.

No idea. I had a similar experience, where a different company gave me a choice of other products to review, and sent them for free. They did this a few times, and with the last product I never got around to actually testing or reviewing it. They never asked for it back or really followed up with it, and I forgot about it until seeing this post. Don’t be like me.

So anyway, I can see how a company would want you to pay upfront and reimburse you to make sure the reviews actually happen.
