Possible scam?

My step son’s father had a package delivered to his house by UPS recently that contained a PS5. It was addressed to his home but had someone else’s name on it. The package said “signature required”, but he didn’t sign for it and it was left on his porch.

Today he received another package, again from UPS, with two Xbox series X’s. Again, signature required but left on his porch while he was not home.

Both packages were addressed to the same person’s name but with his address. UPS has not contacted him to retrieve the packages.

Is this a possible scam, or just UPS royally screwing up?

Someone is using his address to receive goods bought possibly with stolen cards. You’ve intercepted three. Maybe the guy already grabbed a few. If you can afford it set up a camera. Must be someone in the neighborhood. This will be traced to his address. I’m not sure whether he should just do a police report. May come handy once the scam is traced to his doorstep

He should probably report it to both the police and ups. Because even though it is addressed to a different person, having received it at his address, might (just might) make him a suspect in a crime as those items are probably purchased with stolen funds. Which lead right to his doorstep. I mean, it couldn’t hurt for him to report it and might save him some trouble later down the road!

  3. Well has he tried to return it?

I get signature required stuff dropped on my doorstep all the time. I asked the driver about it once (I can see them pull up through the window) and he said it was because of covid. I’m sure to the driver this is a big relief, not only because of covid, but because they can get done with their route faster.

They’re gifts now. Resell them on eBay. 🤷‍♀️
