Potential employer asking for my address to send a Google and Bing card to….wtf?!?

I replied to a Craigslist ad(I know I know but I had to try) for a car loan company looking for signing agents in new areas so they can expand. Here is the excerpt in question from the email they sent me:

“1) What is a mailing address we can send a google and bing card to so we can start the process?  We need this because it helps us drive traffic to a webpage in your area.  All you have to do is send the pin codes from google and bing and we handle all the work. Just snap a photo and email them to us; no need to do anything with them on your end.”

They’re only asking for an address so I don’t see how that could be beneficial to a scammer but at the same time what on gods green earth is a “Google and Bing card”? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  1. It’s not a legit company, there is no job. Cease all contact cause this is a clear scam and you don’t wanna give them your information.

It sounds like they’re trying to get a verified business listing using your address. I know Google sends out postcards in order to prove you own an address and I assume Microsoft does likewise. Presumably it makes them appear to be a local business (and therefore potentially more trustworthy).

Most likely it’s a bad machine translation from whatever language they actually speak 🙂
