Scams

This is the result of the one & only time I’ve shopped online in over a year. This is why I prefer paying more at a brick and mortar store! [re-uploaded with personal information removed]

  1. It is highly likely that it is completely unrelated. You could have gotten this message at any time, even when you didn’t order a thing. They send them randomly in the hopes that someone has ordered something, and falls for it.

  2. These are usually unrelated to your purchase. To track the item/s check from the site you purchased.

A lot of these someone will click the link and it’s something like “pay $4 for the unpaid clearance/shipping or border costs that weren’t paid by the merchant” all non specific. Person pays with card, it’s a secure payment – if you check the terms and conditions it has stuff about this is a free item being delivered, $4 for shipping and agree to be debited $112.00 monthly starting in 3 days time.

Too many people fall for this.

  3. The thing that I don’t understand though is that I don’t think I ever gave them my phone #.

I’m guessing what happened is that my info was matched with previously stored data (I’ve got scam sms’s before but they were just random & unrelated to anything that was happening) and when the data was matched, I was then targeting for the postage scam because they knew I ordered a package that day.

I could be way off though. If anyone knows how these things work and can educate me that would be great! Fingers crossed I actually get my items…..I’m very happy I chose to do a bank transfer rather than giving card info to the seller!
