Tinder scam

So, I was just wondering on tinder and got matched by this Asian girl. She started chatting immediately, with confidence, telling that she will come back to the place I live in a month, that she has a restaurant in Singapore and invited me there… Some bla bla later (very short conversation) she asked me my WhatsApp “to keep in touch” at this point I was super suspicious because what seems too good is probably a scam, so I asked her if she has a linked to prove who she was because there are a lot of scams that can clone the Sim card…

“she” unmatched me immediately.

Be safe guys and ladies, always ask for ID confirmation if it seems to be too good to be true.

Dating apps are rampant with scammers. I scambait romance scammers. Within 2 hours of setting up a profile, I can catch 6-8 or more. I wonder if there are any real people on them anymore.

  2. Just stop matching with foreigners.

  3. Yup that’s common, trying to move off platform as soon as possible. So you can’t report them.

God, they are so unimaginative in how they always say they’re a restaurant owner, or a wine importer, or a fashion manufacturer…

Yeah, it’s the scam known as **pig-butchering** and it’s already pretty much achieved saturation in mainland China, which is generally a low-trust society, and now everyone seems to know about it on its home turf, it has spread to the rest of East Asia before spreading across the world… you could say _like a virus_.

There’s dozens of articles on the subject. Just search Google for [chinese tinder scammers] (https://www.google.com/search?q=chinese+tinder+scammers) and you’ll find enough articles and videos on the subject. Mainstream media is picking up on this issue though not nearly fast enough IMO. Probably worried about “pissing off China” by even reporting on it. It is what it is.

  5. I was going through the same thing myself. The person that tried to scam me that I matched on Tinder blocked me from Whatsapp today. I guess this person had enough when I told them that I wasn’t investing anytime soon (after having them insist on me doing it for almost a month). Told her that I had other priorities and the thing that did it was when I asked if we could facetime since I saw that she had an iphone in her pictures. So I guess they gave up and just blocked me.
